What's The Diff?

The things Quicken Loans team members care about and want to share with the world

Meet the New Ball, Same as the Old Ball

Meet the New Ball, Same as the Old Ball
After it was universally hated and despised, the composite NBA basketball has gone the way of the underhand free throw. The leather ball is back (as of Jan. 1) and rumor has it that the players are happy! In fact, here is a quote from “The King” himself (yeah, we got connections):

“I’m very excited about it. I love the old leather ball and I don’t like the ball we play with now, so I’m anxious to get back and start practicing with the old one. It’s going to take a few weeks to get used to the transition. Anytime you switch basketballs it’s always going to be tough, but we’ll find our way to get back to the leather ball faster than this ball that we have now. Honestly, I didn’t think the ball would switch in the same season, but if you ask anybody on our team we are excited about the change.” – LeBron James

So there it is. We applaud the NBA for recognizing a mistake and moving swiftly to correct it. That’s THE DIFF!

  1. They should have never changed the ball without consulting the players to begin with. And then they changed the ball again without consulting any of the players. The NBA hasn’t learned its lesson. If you are going to do something that will impact the game you need to consult the individuals who are going to be impacted the most.
