As a Detroit resident, I’ve seen my fair share of businesses and retail shops leaving the city over the years. In fact, my favorite local Polish Restaurant just closed it doors after over 50 years in Detroit’s Warrendale neighborhood.
So, it really makes me happy and hopeful when I hear about people like Quicken Loans Chairman Dan Gilbert who believe in Detroit and are actively doing their best to improve the city. In fact, Dan has made such an investment in Detroit’s future that Crain’s Detroit Business named him “Newsmaker of the Year” for 2006.
As an employee, I say congratulations Dan.
As a Detroiter, I say thank you.
