What's The Diff?

The things Quicken Loans team members care about and want to share with the world

Goodbye to the best project manager I’ve ever known

Melissa MorrisonIt’s the goodbye blog posts that always make me the saddest.

This one goes out to Melissa Morrison, who has decided to change her focus in life and become…a mom!

Man, I’ll miss Melissa.

It’s not just because she was a great person with a ton of knowledge about web marketing.

It’s not just because she was a member of the DIFF team and helped out tremendously with planning and launching the blog.

It’s because she was such a darn good project manager. I mean it. She really had the project management stuff down. Down pat.

In the time I’ve been here at Quicken Loans, Melissa has tackled and organized some of our highest level web projects, including our upcoming quickenloans.com realignment (which, trust me, is no small task to undertake).  When you see our new site, launching in the near future, you’ll understand what a monumental project it was for Melissa to coordinate.

Regardless of our upcoming new site, Melissa has been a true leader her entire time here (over four years) and she’s helped a lot of folks here learn and grow as outstanding marketers.

Melissa really knows her shizzy when it comes to web site development and web marketing.  In fact, she runs a really cool site about Michigan vacation home rentals called Rental Bug. If you ever want to spend a few days in our beautiful state, check out the site and find a good deal.

And now Melissa has decided to go start a family and leave Quicken Loans. None of this working mom stuff for her.  Which is a shame, because I really enjoyed being on the team with her. As a person who is very organized (her, not me), she helped me out of lot. I’ll miss her.

So there it is. Goodbye to the best project manager I’ve ever known.  Hello to a soon-to-be (maybe even as you read this) new mom.

Take care Melissa. Thanks for your help on the DIFF blog (among other things) and enjoy your new phase in life. You’ll be missed, and  we all wish you nothing but the best.

  2. You’ll be missed Melissa!
When I first started at QL, one of the things that made me know I’d be friends with Melissa is that, like me, she often had a tough time controlling the rolling of her eyes when she heard something that wasn’t quite right. I loved it! She was never afraid to voice her opinion — and her opinion was a wise one — and even though she didn’t technically lead a team in Web marketing, she led all of Web marketing with her patience, passion and intelligence.
I’ll miss seeing you around the office Melissa!! Now, go have that baby!

  4. As a newer member to the team, Melissa always took the time out to explain things I might not understand. She is going to be a fantastic Mom!

  5. Congratulations, Melissa! You’re fabulous at work, and you’ll be a fabulous mom, too! I don’t need to rehash *why* I know this, because Clayton pretty much covered it. And Ann-Marie. And Kelly. ;-)
We’ll miss you, but not so much to beg you to change your mind. You will *love* this new adventure!

  7. She may say goodbye for being a Project Manager but it just opens her another path she need to take in her life-a mother. Being a mom is never been an easy job!
Congratulations Melissa and to you baby. Hope you’ll be able to endure the all-new challenges in your life.
