I made spaghetti for dinner last night. And while I’d love to boast that I canned my own tomatoes that came straight from my garden and made sauce according to my grandmother’s recipe – I didn’t. I must confess, I use store bought sauce. But I only buy one kind – Newman’s Own Sockarooni. It’s the best thing since sliced bread. Bold, flavorful and thick – no other jarred sauce compares.
After I’d emptied the jar, I noticed a little blurb on the label. Turns out, Paul Newman and the Newman’s Own Foundation donate all profits and royalties (after taxes of course) to educational and charitable purposes.
According to NewmansOwn.com, since 1982, the Foundation has given over $250 million to thousands of charities around the world. Not too shabby.
So, not only do I get great sauce, but I contribute to a great cause in the process.
