What's The Diff?

The things Quicken Loans team members care about and want to share with the world

Nicole Tongson – the “DIFF Dreamer” – is Chicago bound

Thanks and good luck to Nicole Tongson on her last day at the DIFF & Quicken Loans!Saying goodbye sucks, especially when it’s someone you like.

So it’s with great sadness and regret that I continue the DIFF tradition of a goodbye post when someone on the DIFF team leaves us.

That someone is the super nice and super cute Nicole Tongson.

Nicole is a very awesome and hard-working designer with us here at Quicken Loans. She’s contributed to the DIFF, our flagship site – www.quickenloans.com,and numerous other smaller sites.

I’ve been working professionally on websites in one way or another since about 1998. One thing I learned pretty early on is that good designers and good technical guys (programmers, engineers, whatever you want to call them) are "difficult" to work with. It goes with the territory. If they aren’t "difficult", I assume they kinda suck at what they do.

But not Nicole.

She was talented AND easy to work with. She was creative AND friendly, never having that arrogant "you are stupid and it hurts my artistic soul to have to work with you" manner that so many folks her in profession have.

Not Nicole. Plus, she is a pretty good writer. Our little Nicole is one of a kind.

That’s why we know she’ll do great at her job in Chicago and she’ll go on to big and bigger things during her career.

Nicole successfully balances a career with a family and even played on our softball team this past summer. She had quite an arm, let me tell you.

We’ll miss her, but we know she’ll be chillin’ huge in Chicago. Nicole is an accomplished salsa dancer, and she’ll have plenty of places in Chicago to "consiga loco en la sala de baile."

Ok, I’ve gushed about Nicole enough. I’ll end this with a huge THANK YOU for everything you’ve done here at Quicken Loans, especially on the DIFF team, and a big GOOD LUCK with everything that comes your way in the future.

You can read all of Nicole’s posts on the DIFF here.

We’ll miss you Nicole. Keep in touch.

  2. Dude, I think I should have wrote Nicole’s “peace-out post.” I worked hand-in-hand with her on a bunch of projects and it was always so easy collaborating with her. She even liked hanging out with me outside of work, which I’m pretty sure we can’t say about Clayton the Third.
I know her heart has always been in Chi-town, but I will sure miss the hell out of her here. And she better buy a futon or something because I’m coming to visit her! Love ya girl.

  3. Awww…you guys are too sweet. I miss you all so much already! Thanks for the nice words Clayton (though I think you’re really just sad because now no one will be on the lookout for anybody messing with your desk…haha)
Kelly and Cora – we need to have Girls Night Part II. Maybe this time it can be in the Chi???

  5. Salsa fan, eh? Sounds like a trip to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba is in order. My favorite tapas locale in all of Chicago.
Goodbye and good luck! Have fun in Chicago (I know you will). :)
