Michelle Obama’s Dress – A Different Fashion Style

US-POLITICS-INAUGURATION-OBAMA

There was a lot of buzz yesterday about Shelly O's dress choices for inauguration day. The dresses seemed to inspire either loathing or adoration, and no middle ground!

I'm not here to give a review on the dresses themselves, but want to echo a sentiment from a site I love called A Dress a Day. The blog talks about the lucky chosen designers' intentions and the superb craftsmanship that went into the dressmaking. It also lauds her choices as exquisite.

But most importantly, the blog notes that the choices are distinctly Michelle. She wasn't out to please any critics; she only intended to wear what made her feel great. And that panache heralds a rare brand of style that can only come from a strong sense of self and purpose.

As the blog mentioned about the evening dress: "Michelle Obama is accessorizing it with the only things that really matter: confidence, happiness, and the kind of ease that comes from having made one's own decisions."

If this week is any indication, fashionistas will be spending more and more time Washington-watching as the first lady promises to make waves with her distinctive taste.

  1. Michelle’s fashion sense is both simple and stylish. Her style exudes confidence which is needed in the first lady. During these challenging economic times, its important for both the president and first lady to be symbols of pride, leadership and strength. A dress does not make the person, but for most of the public, an image is all we will see of the first lady. Let that image be of grandeur.

  2. It was nice reading your post. I needed to know such kind of information to update myself. I work in my friend’s boutique of flower girl dresses and also help in the online promotion.
