Garden Court Condominiums in Detroit ran a contest that encouraged people to submit a 2 minute video about why they love Detroit. The winner would live in Detroit, staying in a Garden Court condo rent-free for a year and blog about their adventures in the city. The contest is now over, and here is the winning video:

It's summer time and the house just sold! Now it is time to pack up all your stuff and move into the new house before summer ends and school starts back up. The best thing to do is to clear out the clutter in the house via a moving sale, so that you are not bringing new stagnant items into the house that will just become stale.
The following are some helpful tips for holding a moving sale:
“Bizdom U operates on the principle that entrepreneurs are born, not made,” writes Ryckman. “Its program leaders do not necessarily believe entrepreneurship can be taught. Instead, an essential part of Bizdom U’s job is to unearth candidates with a distinct combination of vision, ambition, drive and risk tolerance, and then mold them into business owners.”
Quicken Loans is proud to announce that its Business Intelligence team has won the TDWI Best Practices Award for 2010 in the category of “Operational BI.” The award identifies and honors companies that have demonstrated best practices in developing, deploying, and maintaining applications for business intelligence and data warehousing.
Why is this a big deal, you ask?
The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) is the Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing industry’s leading professional association with thousands of members worldwide. The award recognizes all the little and big things the BI team does for Quicken Loans every day. It reflects not only that the team is doing the right thing, but that they’re also a cut above the rest!
Winning the award has opened up a great opportunity for Quicken Loans. The BI team is invited to attend and be recognized at an awards ceremony held at the TDWI World Conference in San Diego. The team will also have honor to speak at the conference.
Finding the best IT people to drive your organization is one of the key ingredients to its success. From the engineers to the help desk, each member of the IT team helps their company ead in cutting edge technologies.
The focus on attracting top IT talent is why Quicken Loans is proud to announce that it has placed seventh in Computerworld's“100 Best Places to Work in Technology" list, making this the sixth-straight year it has ranked among the top-15 companies.
While sitting outside at a family party this weekend, I noticed my 8-year-old niece’s wrists were covered with little neon bracelets. So, I asked her what the significance of them was. She gave me the most shocking look and couldn’t believe that I had never seen these stretchy, new accessories. It took me the longest time, before I noticed that when the bracelet is removed, it takes the shape of an animal or another fun figure. Such a simple idea and now they’ve turned into a bigger fad than the power bead bracelets of 2000. If you’re a parent, chances are you’ve seen or heard of these bracelets before me. Apparently, I’m out of the loop with the latest “tween” fashion crazes, because they’ve been around for a little while now. They were born in Birmingham, Alabama in 2008 and continued to spread to cities everywhere. With that, these unique wristbands have been banned from some high schools because students use them like rubber bands, reaping havoc for teachers. (At least this is what my niece informed me of!)
By the end of my weekend, I was excited to learn that I wasn’t the only one who just discovered these popular bands. The day after my niece introduced me to them, I met a 26-year-old guy who was sporting one around his wrist. I couldn’t help but ask him “Which animal is that one?!” He got a kick out of it because he just found out about them as well. To top it off, when I got to work Monday morning, I talked to yet another person who came into contact with these little animal bracelets, because of his sister. So now, if you see someone wearing one of these, you'll know what they are and want in on the craze too!
