Bizdom’s Quest for the Best Entrepreneurs in Detroit

I was lucky enough to attend Detroit Startup Weekend and I’d have to say there’s a ton of entrepreneurial talent in the Motor City. These bright and motivated people were looking to come up with the next startup business while striving to make a difference.  From some sweet charity ideas like CauseCrazy.com to the future in mobile marketing in Salt Codes, there was no shortage of creativity on display.

The weekend was co-sponsored by Bizdom U, a nonprofit organization dedicated to launching innovative, growth-oriented businesses in the City of Detroit. Bizdom U was developed by Quicken Loans founder and Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner, Dan Gilbert.

To find the next great group of entrepreneurs, Bizdom U is offering a $500 referral bonus to anyone who refers entrepreneurs who are accepted into this startup accelerator! The application and selection process is comprehensive, designed to find those with a true passion for starting a business. The application deadline is June 11, 2010.

If you are in Michigan and listen to WWJ 950, 97.1, 93.9 or 89X, you may hear this Bizdom U commercial over the next several days and see banner ads on the business sections of Freep.com and Detnews.com as well as email blasts on MySpace and Facebook.

For more information on Bizdom U, visit www.bizdom.com, e-mail getinfo@bizdom.com, or call 313-833-7800.

  1. These programs are a great idea for the city. The jobs there have all but dried up. So there needs to be some incentives in place to encourage new businesses and job creation.

  2. I agree…what this city needs is more jobs and many of these will be created by small businesses. The small business owner will always be critical to job creation.

  4. I agree…maybe it will get some of that new Obama money for struggling homeowners who are unemployed.
