How to Help Survivors of the Japan Tsunami and Earthquake

Help Animals JapanGreat article in Yahoo News that I wanted to share. Some great ways to help the people of Japan that have suffered tremendously from the recent tsunami.

The pictures from north Japan are horrific. An estimated 10,000 are dead the number is growing. Words fail me. Here’s how you can help:

“If you would like to help with a financial donation there are many trusted charities out there, and some newer ideas (such as Lady Gaga’s Prayer Bracelet) that will send relief to thousands who need our help.

Please check out the following:

World Vision. From its website: “World Vision plans to distribute relief supplies to meet the daily needs of quake and tsunami survivors. We will also focus our efforts on responding to the emotional needs of children, who are the most impacted after such a traumatic event.”

Lady Gaga Bracelets. The pop star has designed a prayer bracelet that can be purchased for $5. All proceeds will go directly to Japan relief efforts. To purchase it go to Lady Gaga’s official website  and the bracelet will ship on March 25. You can also donate more than $5 if you’d like.

To Help Animals in Japan. There are several organizations that will take your donations to help the animals affected by the devastation in Japan. Go to the Conscious Cat website to find the following organizations: World Vets, American Humane Association’s Red Star Animals Emergency Services, The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, The Animal Refuge Kansai, Japan Cat Network with Heart Tokushima and Animals Friends Niigata which has formed the Japan Animal Rescue and Support, and finally, the Animal Miracle Network Foundation.

American Red Cross. Many trust the American Red Cross organization when wanting to help others in need. Please donate to the Japanese Relief Effort here. You can also reach them at (888) 284-7978, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.”
