Woot’s Crappy Customer Service

For those of you who have never heard of Woot.com, there's an entire culture you have been missing.  Woot is notorious for selling random electronics, household items, and well… junk.  They only sell one item per day, and about every month or so they have a Wootoff where items are continually sold until sold out for a period of 24-72 hours.

Tree House Listed for $3.6 Million

Tree houseThis article was originally featured on Quicken Loans Mortgage News.  According to Zillow, a Hollywood Hills home once owned by Ellen DeGeneres and after that, the late Heath Ledger, is now for sale for $3,695,000. This home is affectionately named the “Tree House” because of its private wooded area and forest-like views. Unlike other celebrity mansions, this house only measures to be 1,861 square feet. It has two bedrooms and two full baths, and boasts a Shangri-La remodel.

In case you didn’t know what a Shangri-La remodel would look like, this term was first invented by James Hilton in a novel that described a fictional place with a mythical Himalayan utopia. Apparently in this case it would refer to a peaceful, nature oriented architecture, as the house literally opens up to the tops of trees.

For under $4 million, you can buy this luxurious getaway, and enjoy the cozy comforts of a small but Zen habitat. For more information, check out Zillow’s original article, as well as our previous mentions of extraordinary homes. (Photo courtesy of Zillow.com)

The Price of Being Obama’s Neighbor: $1,849,000

HouseThis article was originally published on Mortgage News, but I thought I'd share it with the rest of our readers on What's the Diff as well :)

It’s a well known fact that President Obama is from Chicago. However, we rarely talk about his house or the neighborhood he lived in. This all ended when President Obama’s neighbors decided to sell their house. While social media and online marketing has long been used by corporations (i.e. Sony’s Stop Writing on My Wall Campaign), this is one of the few times we see individuals using media to sell their house.

According to zillow.com, the Grimshaws (owners of the house next door to the Obamas) tried to market the fact that their house is next door to the President’s house. The couple hired the Matt Garrison Group, a sales team within Coldwell Banker, and created a website promoting the sale of this house.

How I Turned 5 Pounds of Sour Grapes into Awesome Jam

Living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has certain advantages.  For example, we're rated as the "healthiest city" because of the health system and extensive parks. Among these benefits, I continuously hear about the Saturday Marketplace in Kerrytown (the historical district of Ann Arbor).

This is where farmers bring all their produce, eggs, and homemade goods to sell, and I have missed every last one of these for the past 5 years of living in Ann Arbor.  So last Saturday, I was determined to make it just this once and dragged myself there early morning.

Coach Handbags: An Affordable Status Symbol?

Coach Handbags: An Affordable Status Symbol?

Is it just me, or are Coach purses becoming ever more popular?  I remember six or seven years ago, I was flabbergasted the first time I walked into a Coach store and saw the prices.  To pay anywhere from $200-$700 for a single accessory seemed crazy at the time.

Today, Coach has become the norm.  Women swarm into Coach outlets and buy handbags, coats, shoes, and matching wallets.  People can’t get enough of this stuff.

The best part is, you can’t even stop at one – people own five or six of them with matching wallets.  I personally stopped after multiple handbags, a belt, a coat, and a few wallets and wristlets.

If you live around a college campus you notice Coach has become the uniform for many college students – the required piece to add to existing a Northface fleece jacket, Ugg boots, and black leggings every winter.
