One of my favorite things! – The Princess Money Manager

I recently have had the pleasure to meet one of Cleveland's entrepreneurs Carolyn Grossi of Little Flower Products LLC! She has always thought of ways to teach her children the importance of saving, spending wisely and sharing.  About a year ago Carolyn developed The Princess Money Manager™ — a tool that inspires and teaches children to become young money managers.

The Princess Money Manager can be purchased at www.aprincesslovestosave.com for $40.00 plus shipping. There is also option for young boys called the Superstar Money Manager. Ten percent of profits from the bank will be donated to three organizations: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Food for the Poor and Providence House, a crisis nursery in Cleveland, Ohio.

A Penny Saved is a Penny on Ebates.com

Ebates Recently I was ordering something online with one of my friends and before she went to place the order I asked if she went through her ebates account. She looked at me dazed and confused not knowing what I was talking about. I could not believe that she had never heard of ebates before. I informed her immediately and referred her to the site.

If you have never heard of them before, ebates is a site that will give you a certain percentage of your online purchase back to you with no hidden fees or charges in a “big fat check” quarterly. For example if you purchase something from Macy’s online they will give you 6.0% cash back and sometimes they even have free shipping added onto your purchase.  This may not seem like a lot but since 2008 I have received $73.91 back from them in a check with all my online purchases, and since I am such a bargain shopper this is a lot to me! During the holidays they run specials of double cash back and the percentage of cash back can be up to 20% to many popular stores.

They have over a 1,000 stores, services and websites listed on their site that will give you cash back. Some examples are: Netflix, Target, AT&T and Verizon, and ebay.

Check out their site at www.ebates.com and if you refer a friend you get $5 added onto your “big fat check” after a purchase if made from your friend. I absolutely love this site and every time I make an online purchase I start off with making sure I can get an ebates reward!

Smart Car Skins

SmartPaintSkinsFushaPinklg[1]I have always wanted a pink car since I can remember.  Recently I was “googling” images of pink cars and came across an affordable hot pink Smart Car.

Smart Car came up with this awesome idea a few years back to let you have whatever color and pattern you want for your car with their Smart Car Skins and Smart Paint Skins. I personally like the Smart Car warped magenta skins and the colors Warrior Pink and Kandy Electric Fuchsia. You are even able to design your own skin by submitting it to them directly.

Even though I could never buy this car due to being almost 6’1” and I do not think that even half of my body would be able to fit inside, I thought this was an awesome idea that gives you an opportunity to have digital clothing for your car. This may seem like a corny and strange idea, but I can see this being very popular in the future.
Check out the Smart Car Skins and the Smart Paint Skins.

A Garage Sale Pessimist Turned Optimist

47a0db30b3127cce9854ab0822c000000045108EbNmLhuxbm[1]So how many people hate the idea of garage/rummage sales? And think that they are a place where junk is found or hoarders go?!

I absolutely USED to.  About 2 weeks ago, before I started my internship here at Quicken, I was visiting my thirty-one year old sister in St. Joseph, Michigan on the west side of the state. I went to visit her on my way home to my parent’s house in Farmington Hills.

After staying the night she decided to wake me up bright and early, for what I thought was a trip to drop off my four year old niece at preschool. Little did I know that we were going “garage sale-ing,” as she calls it, for three hours after we dropped off my niece.  At first, I was angry with my sister because I was out a little too late the night before and all I could think about was jumping in the guest room bed and taking a nap before my “diva-licious” niece came home and I was going to be asked to play all afternoon.
